Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a collection of answers to our most frequently asked questions, which may help address some of your queries. If you don’t see the answer to your question, please don't hesitate to contact us. We also suggest you read the Booking Terms & Conditions page, where we provide more details about our tours.

What should I wear on a Tableland Trails tour?

Far North Queensland has a tropical climate, so comfort is key.

For most of the year, lightweight, breathable clothing is best. We recommend loose-fitting clothes made from cotton or linen. A sun hat, sunscreen and sunglasses are essential.

During the cooler months (May to September), mornings and evenings on the Atherton Tablelands can be cool, so a light jacket or jumper is recommended. Closed-toe shoes are ideal, especially for short walks at venues.

As our tours are tasting-focused, smart-casual attire is perfect.

What should I bring with me?

We recommend bringing:

  • Comfortable walking shoes

  • Sun hat, sunscreen and sunglasses

  • A light jacket (seasonal)

  • Refillable water bottle

  • Camera or phone for photos

If you’re joining a full-day tour, you may also like to bring a small day bag for personal items.

What vehicles do you travel in?

All Tableland Trails tours are private experiences with a maximum of 4 guests.

We travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned SUV suitable for Far North Queensland conditions. This allows for a relaxed, flexible itinerary and a more personalised experience throughout the day.

Who will be our guide?

Your guide is a knowledgeable local who is passionate about the Atherton Tablelands, its producers, and its stories.

Our guides provide friendly, personalised commentary throughout the day, sharing insights into the region’s food, drink, history and landscapes. They are experienced, professional and focused on making your day relaxed, enjoyable and memorable.

Are your tours suitable for cruise ship passengers?

Yes. We offer dedicated cruise ship-friendly tours designed to align with ship schedules.

Our itineraries allow ample time to enjoy the Atherton Tablelands while ensuring a timely return to port. Pick-up and drop-off details are provided prior to your tour for complete peace of mind.

Do your tours include walking?

Our tours involve light walking only, such as short strolls at tasting venues or scenic stops. There is nothing strenuous, and all activities can be adjusted to suit your comfort level.

If you have mobility concerns, please let us know at the time of booking so we can tailor the experience accordingly.

Can dietary requirements be catered for?

Yes. Most dietary requirements can be accommodated, but must be advised at the time of booking.

Many tastings and meals are arranged in advance with local venues, so late notice may limit our ability to cater for specific needs.

Are meals included?

Inclusions vary depending on the tour you choose. Some tours include tastings only, while others include a lunch stop at a local venue.

Please refer to the individual tour page for full details on what is included.

Where is the pick-up from?

Pick-up locations vary depending on the tour and guest requirements.

Pick-up details will be clearly communicated after booking, and all cruise ship guests receive confirmed meeting instructions ahead of time.

Can we customise the private tour?

Absolutely. All Tableland Trails tours are private and can be customised.

If you have specific venues, tastes or timing in mind, we’re happy to tailor the day to suit your interests. Simply get in touch prior to booking or include your requests when enquiring.

How many people can join a tour?

Our tours are designed for private groups of up to 4 guests, ensuring an intimate and relaxed experience.

What happens if weather conditions change?

Tours operate in most weather conditions. In the unlikely event of unsafe conditions, we will adjust the itinerary or discuss alternative options with you.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation and refund policy is outlined in our Booking Terms & Conditions. We recommend reviewing these prior to booking for full details.

Travel essentials

In the spirit of reconciliation, Tableland Trails acknowledges the Yirrganydji, Djabugay, and Tablelands Yidinji Peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters on which we explore. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past and present and recognise their enduring connection to Country — a connection that continues to guide and nurture this remarkable region. We are grateful to share the beauty of tropical rainforests, waterfalls, and wildlife, and we celebrate the living culture and stories that make Far North Queensland so unique.
